These workshops follow similar initiatives held in Singapore, Indonesia, and Taiwan on the one hand, and Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar, Mozambique and Tanzania on the other, during the course of 2016. 50 travel agents and tour operators attended the event in Tokyo and 34 attended the one in Seoul. Press briefings were also conducted ensuring a wider reach of the air corridor promotion.

The Asia-Africa Air Corridor was inaugurated in March 2016 to provide better travel options between the two continents through the hubs in Mauritius and Singapore. Between April and November 2016, the Mauritius-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur route has generated a 20% growth in traffic with more than 25,000 passengers carried.

To give an added impetus to the Air Corridor initiative, a codeshare agreement was signed between Air Mauritius and Singapore Airlines on 06th October last.
